Melissa Moore shows
The Retail Advisor Melissa Moore has over 20 years of experience working with national and international retail brands. Her retail journey started with Laura Ashley whilst completing an honours degree in London. After returning to Ireland, Melissa completed a Masters degree in Business Studies (MBS) in 2005, having written a retail-focused dissertation. Over the next decade,
she went on to run multimillion-euro businesses, working with Brown Thomas, IKEA, and Kilkenny Design. Melissa gained an incredible amount of knowledge in all aspects of the industry including buying, merchandising, new store openings, and stock control. She designed and implemented retail
training programmes to develop the customer retail experience in-store. Having moved to the County Mayo, Melissa launched ‘The Retail Advisor’ business consultancy in 2019 to empower independent retailers and craft and design makers in the West and North West of Ireland.
Melissa mentors established independent retail owners and their teams. She believes in analysing
the needs of businesses to empower retailers to grow their businesses and reach their potential.
Melissa provides solutions by implementing processes to improve standards across the store, whilst
driving sales and ensuring a strong customer service ethos is maintained.
Passionate about Irish craft and design, Melissa shares her knowledge and experience as a member
of the mentor panel for the Design Crafts Council Ireland. Supporting start-up and emerging
businesses, she works with a wide range of makers and creators from jewelers to skincare
specialists. She is known for her honest support and advice, delivered in a warm professional
In a training capacity, Melissa has worked across Ireland and the UK with well-known high street
brands, supermarket chains, credit unions, community groups, and the hospitality sector. She is a
member (certified management consultant) of the Institute of Management Consultants and
Advisers and a member of The Irish Institute of Training and Development.
