Jim Mulroy / Presenter

The Sunday Soul Session hosted by ‘BIG’ Jim Mulroy aka ‘BIG’ Jim RELISH.

Jim’s Sunday Soul Session covers all genres of Music with Soul as he lives by the mantra of ”If a record’s got soul, I’m usually gonna dig it and I’ll more than likely play it!”.

Jim’s been grinding away, playing records publicly and dipping ‘in and out’ of Pirate and Community Radio since doing his best mate’s 18th birthday party in 1986. Growing up in the 70s, 80s & 90s in Multicultural Kilburn (in North West London), Jim spent most of his time and money going out, buying records and looking slick! Jim wouldn’t think twice of hopping on the tube and travelling across London in order to track down that elusive 12”, album or bootleg and fully immersed himself in sound system culture! Jim would often offer to be a ‘box boy’ and carry speakers up flights of stairs and/or in and out of tower block lifts for a local ‘sound’ in return for the chance to play some of his newly acquired ‘pressure’ (aka hard to find records) on their ‘set’ or ‘system’.

Throughout his time DJing in Ireland, Jim’s been lucky enough to share the turntables with International DJs as diverse as Atjazz, Phil Asher, The Herbaliser, Afronaut, Terry Jones, Eddie Piller, Mark Sherlock, Adrian Jae and the actor/music lover Martin Freeman (!?!?) as well as with (and for) Irish Legends such as Billy Scurry, The Disconauts, Arveene, Mix & Fairbanks, Daithi, Le Galaxy, Soul Fusion, Groovement Soul, Bodytonic, Coastal Beats, Elbow Room, Surface, One Track Records, Ghetto Jacking, Space Camp and Hospital.

Jim has also shared the turntables/stage with former ‘Emotional Fish’ & ‘Mudbug Club’ Leader, Jerry Fish, 2Tone Records/The Specials Legend Jerry Dammers and most recently with Boston’s Re-Edit King, DJ Kon!

As well as putting his own RELISH Parties in both Mayo and Dublin, Jim has also been lucky enough to play in some GREAT Irish Venues including The Pod, Spirit, The Sugar Club, The South William, Kennedy’s, The Globe, Ri-Ra, Rogue, Tengu and Drop Dead Twice (Dublin) Mantra, Garbo’s & The Velvet Room (Mayo) The Chasing Bull and Marine Bar (Bundoran) and most recently in Connolly’s of Leap in West Cork and Dublin’s BIG Romance.
